Garden Equipment

There are many types of equipment that can make the activity of gardening easier. Gardening is a manually intensive task which does bring great reward at the end. During the 19th and 20th Century great achievements were made in the invention and development of equipment and machinery for gardens. This was helped by the need to mass produce food on farms and make it less labour intensive. The biggest invention to influence the gardening revolution was the invention of the lawn mower in the 1830’s by Edwin Budding. Before this time lawns were cut using scythes in a back breaking exercise which left a rough finish, but Budding’s invention enables gardeners to get the classic lawn stripes. In 1963, much later, the first hover mower was introduced, which made it easier to manage smaller lawns.

Today in garden centres a vast array of equipment can be purchased from the modern lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, waste shredders to leaf collectors, and many more.

There are many tools that can be bought from a garden centre to help with gardening such as wheel barrows, hose pipes, spades, forks, rakes, and watering cans. There is a vast array available to choose from and you will be able to get advice from your local garden centre as to which type of tool is best suited to your needs.

Once the gardening is all done and all you want to do is sit back and relax, to enjoy the beauty that you have created from all of your hard work, the garden centre is also the main supplier for an extensive range of garden furniture including chairs, tables, loungers and parasols. At any large garden centre you will also be able to purchase a barbeque that will make any summers afternoon very enjoyable in your garden.
